Hello Reader!
Do you ever feel like you have the world on your shoulders in the nonprofit world? Small teams with mighty goals and a task list 237 items long? Well, you wouldn't be the first, so today we're going to help alleviate some of those to-do lists and knock off a few problems from your plate.
Our edition this week is centred around those of us who often have to use our figure-it-out-ability to solve problems on our own. So let's get our problem-solving hats on and dive in!
π¬ Summary
This week, we're covering:
π΅οΈββοΈ One Problem - How to fix a problem on your own β π One Tool - Google Alerts β π One Highlight - 9-year-old saves parents from tornado
π One Problem - How to fix a problem on your own
A lot of us in the nonprofit world are working with limited resources and a mountain of problems to solve. Sometimes it can feel overwhelming and we get stuck with a giant list of things to get done. Some are urgent, some are important, others are busy work. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to tell the difference between them all. So where do you go for advice when you don't have someone to work with?
For us, we're a big fan of community and one of the best places to find a group of similar people is... drumroll please...
Facebook!
Yes, 2024 and we're still big fans of Facebook groups. So next time you are struggling with a task, check out these super helpful communities.
We highly recommend joining a few of these groups and helping contribute your knowledge to these communities. The world is better when we help each other!
How do you keep up with key topics for your org without spending hours searching the internet every week? Google Alerts can help!
We've been using Google Alerts since 2010 to monitor and track different topics. It's super simple to set up and can be a great way to respond to positive (or negative!) news about your organisation.

π One Highlight - Heroic 9-year-old saves parents after tornado
Today we're highlighting Branson Baker, who heroically saved both his parents after their truck was thrown into a tree during a tornado. The truck was heading for a friend's storm shelter when they ran into serious trouble.
Luckily Branson was able to run for help and find people over a mile away to come back and help his stranded parents.
Without his help, both parents would likely have been left stranded as the tornado continued ripping through their Oklahoma town. A GoFundMe has been set up to help support the family through this difficult time
